School Meal Prices
The current cost of a school meal is £2.15 per day for school children and £1.50 per day for nursery meals.This includes a main meal, dessert and drink plus optional daily salad bar and bread each day.
Free School Meals
Millions of children in the UK are eligible for free school meals, but many families don’t realise they qualify. These meals are a great way to ensure your child gets a healthy, balanced lunch and can save families a significant amount of money each year. Eligibility is based on a number of benefits, including Universal Credit and Child Tax Credit. Even if your child is in Reception, Year 1, or Year 2 and already gets a free universal infant school meal, applying if you’re eligible can unlock extra funding for their school through the ‘Pupil Premium.’ It’s quick and easy to check and apply through the Wigan Local Authority website.

Our school provides an environment that promotes healthy eating and drinking and enables pupils to make informed choices about the food and drink they eat. Further information is available in our Whole School Food Policy.
Free School Meals
Pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are ALL entitled to a free school meal through the national Universal Infant Free School Meal initiative.
However, all parents entitled to certain state benefits are encouraged to apply for free school meal funding as the school will benefit from Pupil Premium Funding which is in addition to the annual school’s budget. This funding helps school to fund various activities and provide additional educational support for pupils (see the Pupil Premium Statement on the school’s website).
School can apply for a free meals eligibility check on your behalf. Please contact the main school office for more information.
Ordering System – PARENTPAY
- Parents order their child’s meals in advance using our meal ordering system, ParentPay, our online ordering and payment system for all school charges. Through ParentPay parents can view the daily menu choices, place meal orders and pay for their child’s school meal in one place. If you don’t currently have a ParentPay account please contact the school office for login details.
- All pupils in school have the choice of a school lunch or parents can choose to provide a healthy packed lunch for their child.
- Pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 – These pupils are entitled to a free school meal each day under the government’s universal infant free school meal scheme. Parents will need to order their child’s meal in advance via ParentPay, but there will be no charge.
- Pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 – If your child is having a school meal this must be ordered and paid for on ParentPay. If your child is eligible for a free meal due to your household benefit entitlement you will order meals in the same way but there will be no charge.
