Local Governing Board | Platt Bridge Community School
Each school across Achievement Through Collaboration Trust has its own Local Governing Body referred to as a Local Governing Board (LGB)
This body of governors reports to the Trustees of the Trust.
At Platt Bridge Community School, our Local Academy Board is chaired by Mr. Michael Farrell.
The role of Local Governing Board members within a multi-academy trust is a valuable one in providing local governance as well as offering assistance to the trustees in the fulfillment of their duties.
The Board of Trustees provides appropriate safeguarding and child protection training to all Local Governing Body members to enable strategic challenges to provide assurance that the safeguarding policies and procedures in place at the school are effective.
The Local Governing Body discharges its responsibilities and duties as outlined within the Scheme of Delegation. It also determines the functions undertaken by the Board of Trustees and those which have been delegated by the Board of Trustees to either the Trust Central Team, a Local Academy Board, or one of the Trust’s Headteachers/Heads of Schools.
Core Local Governance Responsibilities
| Safeguarding | SEND | Standards | Stakeholder |
| Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures reflect the school’s specific challenges and context. Monitor the policy | Ensure the school and trust policies for pupils with SEND are implemented and adapted to the specific school context. | Monitor curriculum, school performance and improvement through regular reviews of performance data, attendance rates, and pupil progress, ensuring the school is meeting its targets | Consult stakeholders such as parents, staff, and pupils, using insights to inform decision-making. |
| To help governors meet these responsibilities, they consider information from three sources Reports from school leaders. These are shared with the LGB in advance and discussed at meetings Reports from external sources. The Trust provides regular reports to the LGB to further develop their knowledge of the school Reports from other Governors. School visits from individual governors, shared at meetings, help the board to understand more about their school and the reality of school life. |
A Welcome from our Chair
