Curriculum Implementation

At Platt Bridge Community School, we implement an inclusive, broad, and balanced curriculum that meets the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum. Our curriculum is meticulously planned and provides rich opportunities for cross-curricular links, cultural capital development, and designated educational trips and visits which significantly enhance the experiences of all children. These experiences are designed to encourage co-operation, foster respect, and build resilience.

Subjects are taught as individual disciplines and are progressive, allowing previously taught content to seamlessly enhance and develop new learning. Children are immersed in a rich diet of high-level and subject-specific vocabulary to further enhance their understanding of their topic, providing them with a comprehensive breadth of language. This focus on language development is crucial for their overall communication and future success. Each year group has a list of high-quality, focused reading texts which link with each foundation subject to further deepen subject knowledge.

Within the wider curriculum, teachers ensure that there are planned opportunities for children to further develop their literacy skills through cross-curricular writing, ensuring standards are consistent across the curriculum. This also provides opportunities to apply their understanding of honesty and respect in their work and interactions.
